Nic LeBlanc and Paige Sutton are the summer students at OA this year, and we are excited to welcome them. Nic will be completing his Placement with OA as well in the upcoming academic year, beginning in January of 2024.
Nic is a Summer Student entering his 3L year at the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and is beyond excited to start his IPC placement with OA. While studying at Bora Laskin, he has worked in the law library and as a Legal Assistant/Advocate for Lakehead University Community Legal Services (LUCLS). During his 1L year, Nic volunteered for Pro Bono Students Canada and was elected by his peers to serve as President of the Lakehead Law Students’ Society. Before starting Law School, Nic attended Queens University and received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology and Sociology. While at Queens, Nic bolstered his interpersonal and leadership skills by working in Residence as a Residence Don for four years, mentoring and supporting first-year students in fostering a sense of belonging and building resiliency in their transition to university. Outside of work, Nic enjoys playing guitar, piano and writing music, as well as playing softball in the Thunder Bay community.
Prior to her time at Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Paige worked with Starbucks and other various employers where she was able to gain valuable skills in customer relations and learned the importance and value of clear communication. Refereeing various hockey leagues, including the PWHL, over the last decade has helped Paige build a reputation for dedication and hard work, and has taught her to adapt rapidly to changing requirements in a positive manner, while also understanding the importance of thoroughly understanding the rules. While attending the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law, Paige was Vice-President of the Environmental Law club as well as VP Internal for the Disabled Law Students’ Association, and enjoyed playing on various intramural sports teams. In the future, Paige looks forward to using the knowledge she has gained and applying it to her clients and colleagues.
O’Neill Associates is always proud to support students from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law (Lakehead University, Thunder Bay) through the school’s unique Integrated Practice Curriculum (IPC) Program. Most of the associate lawyers at OA are graduates of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law. This is just a testament as to the exceptional talent being produced by this distinctive Law School.
