O'Neill Associates

Congratulations Erin

O’Neill Associates congratulates our latest addition to the OA team, Erin Hansen, graduating from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law with First Class Standing.  Because of the pandemic, her graduation was held by Zoom but she was fortunate to spend the weekend celebrating with family and friends who surprised her with a big parade, driving past her house in vehicles covered with “congratulations” signs.

We are proud of Erin’s numerous academic accomplishments and are excited about the talent and experience she will bring to the firm. Erin finished with a ranking of second overall in all three years of study, and is the recipient of a number of scholarships including the prestigious Mauro Family Scholarship.  During her third year of law school, Erin was selected as an academic role model to be a Dean’s Fellow, serving as a peer mentor and course assistant for the Contract Law course.  Through her time at Law School, Erin was also involved with Pro Bono Students Canada, Lakehead’s Labour Law Association, and the Peer Mentorship Program.

Prior to attending law school, Erin worked in a not-for-profit organization focused on workforce development and addressing labour market shortages in Northwestern Ontario. In this capacity, Erin worked closely with both employers and employees which helped her develop a deeper understanding of labour and employment concerns in the region, and allowed her to look at issues from all perspectives.

Erin completed her IPC Placement with OA during her third year of studies, and we are very pleased that she will be joining us as our newest Associate lawyer upon her call to the bar in the fall!    We are proud that Erin will be the fourth graduate from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law to join our firm.    With its emphasis on the development of practice skills and the unique nature of practice in smaller and northern communities, Bora Laskin is continuing to produce excellent practitioners who are dedicated to the needs of the clients we serve.

Well done Erin – and welcome aboard!
